US officials confirm to me that the US-led coalition did launch airstrikes in the vicinity of Deir ez-Zor, Syria today.

What's clear: US coalition launched airstrikes in Deir ez-Zor today. Everything else is unknown at the moment.

US official, on whether Deir ez-Zor incident could have been the result of a Russian - not US - strike: "I don't think that's the case."
