Some Residents Worry About a FEMA Camp Being Set Up in Linden
Whatever it is, if you drive on Routes 1 & 9 north, you can’t miss it.

- Anyone who travelled north on Routes 1 and 9 from Woodbridge to Linden remembers Linden Airport, and the General Motors plant right across the narrow lanes of the highway.
That plant was torn down in 2008 to make way for a building renaissance that so far hasn’t happened. But in the past few days what has arisen aren’t structures of steel and concrete, but an encampment comprised of wooden poles and white tent bunting.
An enormous tent city, complete with guards, fencing, and gates, is now housed at the old GM plant site. There are water trucks, vehicles for taking showers, and what looks like a ton of raw materials for more building.
Trying to find out what it’s for, though, is another story.
A nearby resident of the plant had spoken to several of the guards, who swore it was a project of FEMA – the acronym for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
But FEMA spokesman Scott Sanders at first denied that his agency had anything to do with the white tent city.
“We might provide provisions, but we don’t run shelters,” Sanders said when asked if the tents were to be used for people displaced by Hurricane Sandy. Across the Arthur Kill from Woodbridge, Staten Island residents who were devastated by last week’s hurricane and storm surge are still homeless.
Officials in Staten Island have been looking at several possible sites to house Sandy victims, includingreopening an old prison facility, according to the Staten Island Advance.
Sanders pointed to the Red Cross as a source for finding out what the tent city is for; the Red Cross did not return repeated phone calls. -

Once again, the US governments absolutely disastrous Federal Emergency Management Agency has responded to American’s going through difficult times disastrously. Not only are they preventing media from entering their emergency shelters (or are they death traps?), but illnesses are breaking out throughout many of them while ‘evacuees’ who attempt to get the truth out to the outside world are being treated like prisoners. Anyone who has any doubt about FEMA camps better ‘awaken’ and quickly; just ask the people in New York and New Jersey. The story below is from the website Off Grid Survival. Much more of this story at the link below.
FEMA, the federal agency who’s responsible for responding to natural disasters and emergencies, apparently can’t figure out how to respond to anything. Over a week after Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast, the agency is still having trouble providing basic emergency supplies and shelter to the affected area.
And now to add insult to injury, FEMA has actually had to shut down emergency relief shelters due to a snow storm that just hit the area.
Is this really what America voted for? We spend billions of dollars a year on this agency and they can’t even handle the one thing their supposed to be able to do; respond to an emergency situation.
Emergency Shelters that are open, are Death Traps
According to the Asbury Park Press, those that have managed to find open shelters are living in conditions that are worse than what they left. Many of them have been shuttled to FEMA shelters that are nothing more than large tents that have no electricity, no running water, no heat, and barely enough supplies for those living in the shelters.
The Media is not being allowed inside any of these fenced complexes, but some evacuees are starting to speak out. One resident of FEMA’s tent city, told the Asbury Park Press.
“The elections are over and here we are. There were Blackhawk helicopters flying over all day and night. They have heavy equipment moving past the tents all night”…” Everybody is angry over here. It’s like being prison”
When residents of FEMA’s tent city tried to call out and inform the media, officials tried to stop them from taking pictures, turned off the WiFi and stopped allowing people to charge their smart phones.
One Evacuee told the Press:
“After everyone started complaining and they found out we were contacting the press, they brought people in. Every time we plugged in an iPhone or something, the cops would come and unplug them.”
Sickness Breaking Out in Shelter Camps
In Brooklyn, three shelters had to be closed down and sanitized after a stomach virus broke out and sickened a large number of the evacuees.
