GOP Congressman Steve Stockman threatens President Obama with articles of impeachment if the President moves forward with Executive orders on gun control - looks like we shall see confrontation shortly on this issue.....

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order.
Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.”
“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement.

At his press conference Monday, Obama floated the possibility of using executive action to enact policies aimed at reducing gun violence.

The freshman congressman, who served one term in Congress in the mid-1990s, further labeled the possibility “an existential threat to this nation” because, he said, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the people to protect themselves from tyranny. (RELATED VIDEO — Walter Williams: People misunderstand the point of the Second Amendment)
“Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible,” he added. “Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person — much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court.”
He concluded by claiming that an executive order would be not just “not just an attack on the Constitution,” but also an “attack on Americans.”
“If the president is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist,” he said.

and perhaps we shall see if Stockman is serious...........

Biden: W.H. readies 19 executive actions on guns

The White House has identified 19 executive actions for President Barack Obama to move unilaterally on gun control, Vice President Joe Biden told a group of House Democrats on Monday, the administration’s first definitive statements about its response to last month’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Later this week, Obama will formally announce his proposals to reduce gun violence, which are expected to include renewal of the assault weapons ban, universal background checks and prohibition of high-capacity magazine clips. But Biden, who has been leading Obama’s task force on the response, spent two hours briefing a small group of sympathetic House Democrats on the road ahead in the latest White House outreach to invested groups.

The focus on executive orders is the result of the White House and other Democrats acknowledging the political difficulty of enacting any new gun legislation, a topic Biden did not address in Monday’s meeting.

“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).

But Biden did indicate that the remains of the Obama campaign apparatus may be activated in the effort.
“He said that this has been a real focus on the policy and that the politics of this issue, that a strategy on the politics of the issue hasn’t been undertaken yet,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told POLITICO. “He did remind us that the campaign infrastructure is still accessible.”

The executive actions could include giving the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention authority to conduct national research on guns, more aggressive enforcement of existing gun laws and pushing for wider sharing of existing gun databases among federal and state agencies, members of Congress in the meeting said.
Biden did not address two of the more significant issues in the gun debate: the appointment of a permanent director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the role violent images in the entertainment industry play in the nation’s gun violence.

Obama touched on his expected legislative guns agenda at his own news conference in the East Room on Monday, while stressing the power he has via executive order.

“How we are gathering data, for example, on guns that fall into the hands of criminals, and how we track that more effectively — there may be some steps that we can take administratively as opposed through legislation,” Obama said.

Even Democrats who back gun control concede that reinstating an assault weapons ban — the 1994 law expired in 2004 — will be a heavy lift for the White House. During his meeting with gun-rights groups last week, Biden mentioned only an assault weapons ban when telling the NRA and other organizations that Obama has “made up his mind” to support it.

“I think everybody acknowledges that the assault weapons ban is a challenge, but other things — like the size of the magazines, the background checks, straw purchases — are all things that have a good chance of passing,” Scott said.
Speier said she told Biden the White House should do as much as it can on its own.

“I urged him to do as much by executive order as possible,” she said. “Frankly, I don’t have a lot of confidence that this Congress is going to do anything significant.”

And Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Democrats’ Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, said the magazine ban and universal background checks would be far more effective than an assault weapons ban without the political cost.

“Probably the most recognizable thing you can say in this debate is ban assault weapons,” Thompson said. “But the other two issues” — forbidding high-capacity ammunition magazines and requiring universal background checks for gun purchases — “those two things have more impact on making our neighborhoods safe than everything else combined. Anytime you try and prohibit what kind of gun people has it generates some concern.”

Biden’s personal gun violence outreach now includes the families of the 26 victims of the Dec. 14 school massacre in Newtown, Conn. Biden told the Monday meeting that he’s been reaching out to the families. A White House official confirmed the vice president has been in touch directly with some of the families.
“The vice president mentioned that he has called every one of the families that has lost children in Connecticut, and that the conversations have lasted no less than 45 minutes,” Speier said.

Obama: Some Gun Control Measures 'I Can Accomplish Through Executive Action'

"I'm confident that there are some steps that we can take that don't require legislation and that are within my authority as president."

12:14 PM, JAN 14, 2013 • BY DANIEL HALPER
President Obama said he'd take "executive action" to deal with guns at his press conference today:
"My understanding is the vice president's going to provide a range of steps that we can take to reduce gun violence," said Obama. "Some of them will require legislation, some of them I can accomplish through executive action. And so I will be reviewing those today, and as I said, I will speak in more detail to what we're going to go ahead and propose later in the week. But I'm confident that there are some steps that we can take that don't require legislation and that are within my authority as president, and where you get a step that, has the opportunity to reduce the possibility of gun violence, then i want to go ahead and take it."

And has the word already been passed to stand down on fulfilling ammo orders ?

http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2013/01/alert-wal-mart-is-not-going-to-order-any-more-ammo-2536544.html

I do not have a link as of yet but here is what I have found out…
Stopped by my local Wal Mart this morning. They are out of almost every kind of ammo.
I asked to talk to the person in charge of ordering to see if they had any information on this subject.
The manager I talked to said they had not heard anything…BUT.
She tried to order some .223 as I was standing there. She said the order was being rejected by the corporate office. Said she had never had that happen.
She called corporate as I was standing there.
And was told this. “As of right now Wal Mart is not going to be making any new orders of ammo because of the upcoming decision on the second amendment”. Said, “As of right now we are unsure of what new legislation might be coming, and because of this, we are suspending new orders. We will continue to sell what is already in stock in stores and at our distribution centers, but any new orders will not be shipped until the issue is resolved”.
So after they run out, there will be no restocking until Obama makes his decision…Hows that change working out for you now?
As I said, I dont have a link, but you can call Wal Mart headquarters at 1-800-925-6278 for yourself and ask. After the answer press 2 then 1 then 1 again and wait to talk to a rep. I just did this myself and was told the same thing.
Something must have changed at the meeting they had on Thursday.
Guess we will have to wait and see what Obama has in store for us next.
Guys, I am not making this up…Call and find out for yourself.
Another confirmation:
I just recorded the audio to me calling the corporation and this is all too real. It all comes back to “we have to wait for the President to revise the new law for the Federal Gun Control Act. Then we will change our policy”. – sonarx

The county sheriff is the highest governmental authority in his county

Sheriffs CAN Block Federal Gun Control

“A high-profile former sheriff who once sued the U.S. government over its gun regulations – and won – says it is the local sheriff who will have to defend Americans when and if the feds starting banning and confiscating guns.

Richard Mack, a former sheriff in Graham County, Ariz., joined with then-Ravalli County Sheriff Jay Printz in a lawsuit against Washington when Bill Clinton demanded sheriff’s enforce provisions of the Brady Bill gun control law.

He won. And since then he’s been at the front of a movement that highlights the responsibility of local sheriffs.

Now, as Washington gears up to consider imperious plans to limit guns, require fingerprinting and registration, impose additional taxes and fees, ban particular features or functions outright, and even confiscate weapons of self-defense, Mack has told WND that there’s hope remaining in local law enforcement.

It’s not complicated, he said.
“Gun control is illegal and it’s against the Constitution,” he said. “What people don’t realize is that the Second Amendment was designed to protect us from the power of the federal government.”

He said he would expect sheriffs across the country to defend the rights of ordinary Americans.”  (From an Article by Michael Carl at WND)
Think about it for a moment.  When the conflicts between local citizens and the federal agents begin, who is the person to get between them?  Your local sheriff, that’s who.

When I was sworn-in, many years ago, as a deputy sheriff, I swore to uphold and protect the US Constitution.  As Mr. Carl points out in his very enlightening article, gun control is illegal.  It is a violation of the US Constitution.  The 2nd Amendment says plainly your right to keep and bear (“bear” means “to carry”) arms shall not be infringed.  Infringed means “to go against,” to change, to limit,  and on, and on.  In plain language it means the government cannot, legally, do a darned thing to infringe your rights under the Second Amendment.

Seems to me, a local sheriff would be well within his rights, in upholding the law (the constitution)  to arrest any, and all, federal agents who persist in an attempt to enforce any federally imposed gun control laws in his jurisdiction.

Here is a little known fact:  ” ... no matter what gun control laws are passed by the federal government, they can only be enforced in your area if your county sheriff allows them to be.”
” ... the county sheriff is the highest governmental authority in his county and he does not have to bow to the tyranny of the federal government if he deems such actions to be unconstitutional or unlawful.  In essence, the county sheriff has more legal authority within his county than the governor or the state or even the president of the United States.”—Read more:

I agree with the writer of the article at godfatherpolitics.com.  But I see two problems.  One: The American government is no longer bound to the constitution.  Having decided the constitution is no longer valid, since we MODERN Americans have outgrown its lack of moral relativism, our current government just does whatever the heck it pleases and rams it down the throats of the citizens.
Two: The American citizen is so totally ignorant of his/her rights under the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, that they no longer protest when their government goes rogue.  Of course, there is always the ten percent who either don’t get the word or don’t give a da*n.

Given the above information, don’t you think it might be prudent to contact your local sheriff and inquire where he/she stands on gun control and the enforcement of unconstitutional laws in his/her jurisdiction?
Sheriff Richard Mack has authored a book entitled:  “From My Cold Dead Fingers.”  In the book, Sheriff Mack clearly outlines why the unrestricted right of the people as individuals “to keep and bear arms” is essential to the preservation of both individual liberty and domestic tranquility. Mack reminds us of facts that were self-evident to earlier generations of Americans, but which are all but forgotten in today’s climate of incessant cries for more gun control. Critics tell us “From My Cold Dead Fingers.” is concise and compelling.  They say this book is an indispensable resource for any lover of freedom. Some even insist “From My Cold Dead Fingers.” is one of the most essential books ever written on the Second Amendment.

As we Americans try to wind our way through these weeks, months, and years of uncertainty, and turmoil that began upon the swearing-in of Obama, the first time, and continues even today, extending into the future for at least four more years, we desperately need leaders.  The only leadership coming out of our nation’s capitol isleading the wrong way, down the path to utter destruction.
Could it be that American leadership will ultimately be found at the local level—with our powerful county sheriffs?  Indeed, what could be more American than that?

These are, indeed, “times that try men’s souls.”  We are undoubtedly living through a period in our country’s history that will decide the fate, not only of OUR country, but of the world community.  For, as our friends at Canada Free Press say right across the top of their website, “Because without America there is no free world.”

Since the early days of the 20th century America has been fighting wars with and for of its global neighbors attempting to maintain conditions that allow freedom to grow and flourish for all people.  Now it is time we Americans turn our attention inward and clean up around our own doorstep and in our own home.  Its not just something we’d like to do—it is something we MUST do—or we will perish.
It’s not about gun control.  It’s about people control, about liberty, about freedom, it’s about making America safe for socialism. It’s about whether America survives as a free country or dies with the shackles and chains of slavery wrapped tightly around her neck and the heavy yoke of a powerful central government dragging her down into the dust.

The only question—do we have the courage to stand up, as men, and demand that our God-given rights be left alone, acknowledged as sacrosanct,  just as God and the founders of this nation intended?  Or,  do we curl up in a fetal position and mewl weakly for our national nanny to tuck us in.

At my, ahem, advanced age, I’m getting down to the “short rows” in life now and it pains me to know that I may be leaving my grandchildren an America as completely “messed-up” as it is today.
As I watch our government taken over by the socialists, those who would redistribute the wealth of that portion of this nation who work hard, scrimp, save, and “render unto Caesar” their taxes to better their lot in life and the lot of their children, I am reminded of something Samuel Adams said in an article in the Boston Gazette back in 1768.  Adams said this: “The utopian schemes of leveling (He means re-distribution of the wealth) and a community of goods (Here Adams is referring to that which we call socialism today)  are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government unconstitutional. Now what property can the colonists be conceived to have, if their money may be granted away by others, without their consent?”—Samuel Adams, Boston Gazette, April 4, 1768. (Emphasis mine)
Socialism came ashore with the folks from the Mayflower.  It failed—and nearly cost the colony’s life.  It has been trying for a comeback in America ever since. Today socialism is thriving in America, and again, as it always does, it is killing its host.
