Federal Reserve finally finds price inflation - May 27th meal hike looms ( Fed Reserve of Chicago Cafeteria price hikes due to food price spikes of increases of 3 - 33 percent )...... but there's an App for that too - cue cannibalism or now I understand all of the zombie preparation / defense against studies by the Government !

Zero Hedge....

Federal Reserve Admits Truth In Internal Memo: "Prices Continue To Rise Between 3% And 33%"

Tyler Durden's picture

We are confused: on one hand the Fed is injecting hundreds of billions of liquidity into the market, boosting the S&P to all time highs and making the rich richer (Piketty taking Excel lessons from Rogoff notwithstanding) while the economy remains stagnant because, according to the BLS, inflation is too low, and as everyone knows the biggest lament of the impoverished middle class is that "the value of my dollar isn't being destroyed fast enough for me to feel confident about the future." On the other hand, the very same Federal Reserve Bank (of Chicago), just announced that as a result of "prices continuing to increase between 3% and 33%" (!), beginning May 27 it is hiking the prices in its cafeteria. So, clearly prices are rising at a 33% clip due to, how does the IMF put it, lowflation, right? Oh, and harsh weather.

Subject: Reserve Center Cafe changes coming

Reserve CenterTM Tenants,

Due to rising product prices in the past several years, The Reserve Center will increase its prices in the cafeteria effective May 27.

Over the past five years, many of you may have experience product price increases in grocery stores.Prices continue to rise between 3% – 33%.  For the past eight years, The Reserve Center has been absorbing these increases. The last overall price increase in The Reserve Center cafeteria took place in 2006, followed by a limited increase on sugar-based products in 2012.

For the upcoming price increase, a thorough review of café items was conducted and, while some prices will remain flat, others will increase to recognize these market increases. The price increase will help The Reserve Center cafeteria continue to maintain high standards and service levels by providing quality products.

Another change includes the introduction of new menu program changes to provide greater variety as we continue to refresh the cafeteria menu offerings.  In the following months, we will be distributing a survey to obtain feedback on these new menu changes, as well as your food preferences so that we can continue to tailor menu offerings based on input we receive from our customers.

Lastly, we've reviewed feedback and in response The Reserve Center cafeteria will now close at 1:30 p.m. on Fridays. However, July 11 tahrough Aug. 29 we will close at 1 p.m. as the traffic is lighter due to vacations.

Thank you for your continued support of The Reserve Center cafeteria.

The good news (for Fed employees): as we reported last year, the average annual increase in the salaries of Federal Reserve workers over the past year has been around 13%, so a price hike should be bearable.

Everyone else? As we showed in "Real Hourly Wages Decline For The First Time Since 2012" better luck next time.

Bad news from Paul Ehrlich: We might eventually have to start eating our dead

POSTED AT 11:21 AM ON MAY 23, 2014 BY ALLAHPUNDIT

A tasty leftover from Newsbusters. He’s vague on when, precisely, mass cannibalism will become the last best hope of mankind — we’re headed that way “with ridiculous speed” is all he’ll say — but don’t be too hard on this guy for shying away from concrete predictions. He’s tried that before and it didn’t work out so well, although naturally his most devoted acolytesdisagree. In a death match between consciousness-raising and inconvenient facts, you can always count on cognitive dissonance to protect the former. Even when the inconvenient fact in question involves hundreds of millions of deaths that didn’t happen.
Clips like this and the one from earlier this week of a climate-change alarmist calling for skeptical politicians to be locked up are always interesting, though, as psychological curios. Clearly both men believe wholeheartedly that the situations they’re addressing are dire; understandably they want to grab the public’s attention and get people agitating. What’s the best way to do that? With scoffworthy predictions and eyeroll-causing remedies that nonetheless attract an audience or with a more sober approach that’s more likely to be taken seriously but less likely to be noticed? Give Ehrlich credit for consistency: He’s always favored sensationalism.
Exit question: Aren’t we all going to be eating lab-grown burgers in 100 years? Click the image to watch.

  1. Good morning,

"Interesting times " indeed. I wonder if the "lab grown" hamburger will really just be Soylent Green? I've got that movie on DVD, think I'll be watching it again soon. Loved those Heston movies in the 70's, maybe I will hunt down the Towering Inferno and the one that was remade with Will Smith in it, that I can't remember the name of right now.

Troops and the pope in Jordan, does sound like trouble brewing there.

Bitcoin still chugging along, like the little engine that could.

Election day in Kiev, right? Guess that will be news later. Maybe I will watch Rt on the Roku some this morning.

    Have a great day.

    1. Morning Kev - think the lab grown meat is a cover for crap that will be offered for the sheeple to consume ( pink slime and worse. ) Old movies to consider along with Soylent Green - try Roller Ball , Blade Runner and the original Planet of the Apes !

US troops in Jordan for "Exercises " corresponds with recent " rebel " push in southern Syria ( recall how all of a sudden rebel forces popped up after the fall of Homs and with Aleppo becoming vulnerable to Syrian Government forces. I don't think the Pope has anything to do with this as I kinda like this particular Pope ( he is much better than the appropriately named Benedict )

Bitcoin has recovered a tad in price , I tend to look at bitcoin from a thirty thousand foot view ( what is the regulatory outlook , how is security being managed , what will be the mechanism for true price discovery , what are the real life applications coming along , etc. ) Still follow developments , have no idea what the future holds though for bitcoin.

Election Day for sure ..... will be following that one ! Indy 500 starts at noon too !

      Enjoy your Sunday !
