Obama’s Worried Manhattan Will Get Nuked

During a press conference in the Netherlands today, Obama said he is more worried about Manhattan getting nuked than any supposed threat posed by Russia.
The president made the remark after a reporter asked him if former challenger Mitt Romney was correct in his assertion that Russia is once again the primary foe of the United States following Crimeans voting to rejoin Russia.
“Russia’s actions are a problem. They don’t pose the No. 1 national security threat to the United States. I continue to be much more concerned when it comes to our security with the prospect of a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan,” Obama said.
Obama did not elaborate on the threat.
North Korea has threatened to nuke the United States on several occasions. Last April, the Defense Intelligence Agency concluded with “moderate confidence” North Korea has a nuclear weapon small enough to be loaded on a ballistic missile. However, according to the DIA, the reliability of the missile would be low.
The previous December South Korea, for obvious reasons, said North Korea had developed the technology capable of delivering a nuclear weapon to the West Coast of the United States. Experts, however, said at the time the hereditary communist state is years away from miniaturizing a nuclear weapon and mounting it on a ballistic missile.
California is approximately 3,000 miles from Manhattan. In order to nuke New York, the North Koreans would require a missile capable of traveling around 9,000 miles.
The next suspect on the Axis of Evil list the government has claimed for over a decade wants to do us harm is Iran. It currently does not have a nuclear bomb and, in fact, has not enriched uranium to the level required for a bomb, and also does not possess a missile capable of striking the United States. In January, Secretary of State John Kerry insisted Iran has pledged to stop stockpiling uranium.
After the September 11, 2001 attacks, the government and various commentators told us on numerous occasions al-Qaeda has planted nukes around the United States and will “kill millions, destroy the economy and fundamentally alter the course of history.”
In 2010, Obama said al-Qaeda is trying to get nukes and would have “no compunction in using them.” He added if “there was ever a detonation in New York City, or London, or Johannesburg, the ramifications economically, politically and from a security perspective would be devastating.”
U.S. intelligence officials, however, say the al-Qaeda nuclear threat is, at best, a remote possibility.
“At this point, they don’t appear to have made much progress, but we continue to review every bit of information that comes in to determine whether they’ve advanced their efforts in any way whatsoever,” an anonymous intelligence official told CNN in 2010. “Developing a nuclear device involves a highly sophisticated technical process, and al-Qaeda doesn’t seem to have mastered it based on what we know now.”
Obama apparently does not consider Russia a threat, although it currently has around 45,000 nuclear weapons and a sophisticated ballistic missile system.
Russia, according to Obama, is a “regional power that is threatening some of its immediate neighbors, not out of strength, but out of weakness.”
Obama made the remark while speaking with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte after a nuclear security summit in The Hague. Russia attended the summit and endorsed the meeting’s final statement on enhancing nuclear security.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Rogozin threatened to use nuclear weapons if Moscow was attacked. He made the remark following discussions about missile defense systems installed in Eastern Europe by the United States.
“One can experiment as long as one wishes by deploying non-nuclear warheads on strategic missile carriers,” Rogozin said. “But one should keep in mind that if there is an attack against us, we will certainly resort to using nuclear weapons in certain situations to defend our territory and state interests.”

Homeland Security Exercise Targets “Free Americans Against Socialist Tyranny”
Leaked documents reveal plan to counter online dissent during martial law

Leaked Homeland Security documents obtained by Infowars reveal details of a joint DHS/FEMA national exercise set to take place this week, one of the components of which revolves around an effort to counter online dissent by a group called “Free Americans Against Socialist Tyranny,” which is disgruntled at the imposition of martial law after an earthquake in Alaska.
The document again underscores the federal government’s obsession with characterizing libertarians and conservatives as some kind of extremist radical threat.
The document (PDF) was leaked by an individual affiliated with Stewart Rhodes’ Oathkeepers organization and passed on to Infowars. It is entitled National Exercise Program – Capstone Exercise 2014 – Scenario Ground Truth.
The document is intended for “U.S. Department of Homeland Security Trusted Agents Only” and is “disseminated only on a
need-to-know basis.” Even the role players involved in the exercise itself are prohibited from seeing the files.
need-to-know basis.” Even the role players involved in the exercise itself are prohibited from seeing the files.
The exercise is designed to evaluate readiness in preparation for a catastrophic incident, natural disaster or major act of terrorism. Some of the scenarios which will be in play during the exercise include a series of earthquakes, tsunamis and a nuclear weapons accident.
On page 125 of the document, a scenario is outlined whereby a group calling itself “Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny” responds to “The U.S. Northern Command mission of Defense Support to Civil Authorities” (or the imposition of martial law) by launching a protest campaign on social media and potentially engaging in cyber attacks.
According to the scenario, the campaign is driven by suspicion that “the government is responsible for the Alaska earthquake and a “hacktivist” manifesto.”
“The U.S. Northern Command mission of Defense Support to Civil Authorities has led to increased activity by some anti-government organizations,” states the document. “Currently, the most vocal organization is Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny; using social media, they advertise anti-U.S. rhetoric focusing on the Department of Defense as well as to recruit like-minded individuals to join their “cause”.“While some Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny members are capable of conducting adverse cyber operations, the greatest threat is current government employees sympathetic to their cause,” the document adds. “It is believed that there are employees within US Northern Command, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, National Guard, and Defense Information Systems Agency that may support Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny doctrine based on individual comments on social media sites. Free Americans against Socialist Tyranny sympathizers may include both former and current members of the military with training on satellite communications, computer network defense, network operations, as well as military command and control.”
The scenario also suggests that Northern Command members sympathetic to Free Americans Against Socialist Tyranny may attempt to hack the North American Aerospace Defense Command as a form of retaliation.
This is by no means the first time that the Department of Homeland Security has characterized anti-big government Americans as domestic extremists.
A study funded by the Department of Homeland Security, details of which emerged in 2012, characterized Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.
As we have exhaustively documented on numerous occasions, federal authorities and particularly the Department of Homeland Security have been involved in producing a deluge of literature which portrays liberty lovers and small government advocates as extremist radicals.
The document also mentions the threat posed by “disgruntled military and Department of Defense civilians,” which ties into the talking point, repeatedly promoted by the DHS and other federal agencies, that returning veterans pose a major domestic terror threat.
The Capstone Exercise 2014 document makes it clear that a key part of the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA’s preparation for the aftermath of major catastrophic incidents in the United States is centered around combating online dissent which will be sparked as a result of federal authorities and military assets instituting martial law, or what the document refers to as “Defense Support to Civil Authorities”.
This is particularly chilling given reports that emerged in 2006 concerning a nationwide FEMA program under which Pastors and other religious representatives were trained to become secret police enforcers who teach their congregations to “obey the government” in preparation for a declaration of martial law, property and firearm seizures, and forced relocation.
The fact that the DHS is focusing its cyber security efforts during a major national exercise not on targeting foreign state actors or terrorists but on combating online dissent by conservatives is sure to increase concerns that the federal agency once again has libertarians, patriots and small government activists in the crosshairs.
New Jersey Lawmaker Blasts Proposed Magazine Ban
“This body intends to treat otherwise law-abiding citizens the same way it treats sex offenders…”

A New Jersey lawmaker blasted legislation seeking to ban high-capacity magazines last Thursday, calling the bill a “public relations stunt.”
During a speech at the Assembly Chamber in Trenton, NJ, Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll (R) questioned his fellow legislators’ intentions regarding a 10 round magazine limit while pointing out the bill’s more egregious aspects.
“Mr. Speaker, the question presented today is whether we as a body will substitute one completely arbitrary limit, for a smaller, even more arbitrary limit on magazine size, instantly turning millions of our fellow citizens… into second degree criminals, for the offense, Mr. Speaker, of possessing a metal box with a spring,” Carroll said. “This body intends to treat otherwise law-abiding citizens the same way it treats sex offenders, aggravated arsonists, burglars and kidnappers.”
“For the offense of peaceably owning an utterly harmless item, we will throw these peaceful citizens into jail for up to 10 years… and utterly destroy their lives, and for what? A public relations stunt, because that Mr. Speaker is what this bill is all about. It will do precisely nothing to save a single life but will ruin numerous other lives, all the while infringing on basic fundamental constitutional rights, all that some folks can say they are doing something.”
During his six minute speech, Carroll dismantles the proposed legislation with clear facts and logic, also noting his “Democratic colleagues” initial call for confiscation.
“Now, lets talk about common sense Mr. Speaker. We do not measure our freedoms against the possibility that a lunatic, psychopath or basely evil criminal will abuse them,” Carroll said. “A free society asks not why people want or need their freedom, it asks why a government would restrict it… We do not limit alcohol sales to two shots because some of it may lead to a DUI.”
Carroll also mentions statistics regarding real dangers facing children, most notably swimming pools, facts that are often left out of gun control conversations.
“We do not limit possession of swimming pools to licensed life guards despite the fact that children are substantially more likely to die by drowning than by gunshot, let alone by mass murder,” Carroll said. “And none of these items Mr. Speaker, booze, cars, pools, are endowed with constitutional protections.”
Carrol also goes on to point out the hypocrisy in allowing former police to be exempt from the law, noting a recent case where a retired officer murdered an unarmed man in a movie theater.
“What makes a former cop any more vulnerable or anymore trustworthy than his neighbor? In an infamous case of assault by popcorn in Texas, which produced a tragic killing, the shooter was a retired cop,” Carroll said.
While a minority of lawmakers across the country attempt to push unconstitutional firearms legislation, countless individuals are winning the information war by doing the same as Carroll.
Just this month, businessman and gun enthusiast Anthony P. Colandro told New Jersey’s Assembly Committee that he would “not comply” with any proposed firearms legislation.
Navy veteran and firefighter John Cinque made headlines after telling Connecticut lawmakers that he would “not comply” with similar legislation last year as well. Cinque and other Conn. residents helped crush the already-unpopular legislation’s public image even further after exposing an officer’s call for door-to-door gun confiscation earlier this month.
Last month, a man who fled Cuba’s communist regime in the 1960s made national news after blasting Oregon lawmakers during a public hearing on proposed gun control.
Other forms of civil disobedience have begun to appear as well. Just last week, Second Amendment supporters in Saratoga Springs, New York burned nearly one thousand gun registration forms in protest to the New York SAFE Act.
Although major gun control advocates have desperately attempted to keep their true agenda quiet, recent revelations have removed all doubt.
Earlier this year, a New York legislator exposed rejected Democrat proposals from the SAFE Act gun bill which were revealed to include outright gun confiscation. New York mayor Andrew Cuomo publicly supported the idea as well, stating that ‘confiscation is an option’ during a 2012 interview.
Last month, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Mayor John C. Tkazyik announced his resignation from Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) group, revealing the group’s plans for outright gun confiscation.
Last year, Austin, Texas City Councilman Mike Martinez admitted that his group was working toward an outright gun ban during a Moms Demand Action gun control rally.
While many propose confiscation, states such as California have already begun confiscating guns from citizens for alleged violations.
Customs and Border Protection Towers Not Just On the Border
U.S. Customs and Border Protection will build six towers east and west of the Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 19, officials confirmed Friday.
Agency officials said the initial towers are a more careful approach to using tower technology. It comes three years after the Homeland Security Department scrapped a similar but far bigger project, the Strategic Border Initiative. That cost one billion dollars.
The new system was awarded to Elbit Systems of America, an Israeli company that worked with the Boeing Corporation on the failed SBInet project, News 4 Investigators revealed in February. The company will use cameras and radars able to track movement up to six miles away.
MAKING THE GRID SMARTER, MAKES IT LESS
SECURE
The U.S. electric grid is constantly under attack despite attempts by utilities to boost physical security and cyberdefenses. In 2013 a DHScyber emergency team responded to more than eighty incidents involving energy companies. “If you’re a utility today, depending on your scale, you’re under attack at this moment,” says Robert Weisenmiller, chairman of the California Energy Commission.
The U.S. electric grid is constantly under attack despite attempts by utilities to boost physical security and cyberdefenses. Regulators have increasingly focused on physical security of the grid since last year’s attack on a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. substation in San Jose, California, where unknown attackers cut telephone lines to the Metcalf substation, then disabled seventeen transformers with precise gunfire. Cyberattacks, however, are becoming more of a concern.
Government Technology reports that in 2013 a DHS cyber emergency team responded to more than eighty incidents involving energy companies. “If you’re a utility today, depending on your scale, you’re under attack at this moment,” said Robert Weisenmiller, chairman of the California Energy Commission.
Efforts by utilities to make the electric grid “smarter” by deploying sensors, automation, and communications technology have created new ways for hackers to sabotage the electric grid; and while cybersecurity spending has increased to eliminate some weaknesses in the smart grid, the threat still remains. Smart meters still operate side by side with old and sometimes outdated hardware systems.
TSA SPENT $1 BILLION ON FAILED BEHAVIOR DETECTION PROGRAM
THE NY TIMES REPORTS ON ONE OF MOST EXPENSIVE TSA EPIC FAILS:
Like the rest of us, airport security screeners like to think they can read body language. The Transportation Security Administration has spent some $1 billion training thousands of “behavior detection officers” to look for facial expressions and other nonverbal clues that would identify terrorists. But critics say there’s no evidence that these efforts have stopped a single terrorist or accomplished much beyond inconveniencing tens of thousands of passengers a year. The T.S.A. seems to have fallen for a classic form of self-deception: the belief that you can read liars’ minds by watching their bodies.
Hey Fred, Something "spectacular in the works"? I will be paying close attention then.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you that there something rotten in the missing airplane story.
Yes the Russians must have some decent spying ability, maybe they only spy on a limited number of people so that they can actually listen to the conversations.
Strange days we live in for sure.
Evening Kev...... the missing plane just doesn't add up and Malaysia has been acting quite odd from the start..... I remember Sherlock Holmes's wisdom in Silver Blaze - the "curious incident of the dog in the night-time" .... when a guard dog surprising doesn't bark , that is a tell.....the non barking dog here is the failure of US Naval Base Diego Garcia and US/ Australia's bases and / or radar installations ( Christmas Island , Pine Gap , Darwin , Perth , Stirling etc. ) to allegedly observe Flight 370 ! If that could be true , what is the value of our intel and military resources and the point of having them if they can't observe a domestic jet ?
DeleteThe reason why I just have spider sense tingling is Russia : 1) has now smacked the face of the US openly and with increasing contempt on two occasions - how long can that stand ? Too may prideful folks to accept that ; 2) now that the plane has been snatched and hidden ( if we put the proverbial tinfoil hats on , it just can'y be hidden in " Warehouse 13 " forever ) , it has to be put in play - you have a plane that could be detected , stumbled upon or an inconvenient leak could occur at any time ... plus there are the bodies ; 3) Bankers have a 4/1/14 deadline , while big political events occur in Europe by the latter part of May ( 25th is the outer window ) ; 4) then you have all of the nuclear weapon signaling ( I didn't even mention the nuclear attack " game played by the G-7 leaders today at their Meeting ! ) ; 5) finally , you now have signs Ukraine will have trouble staying together - today's major fracture between Kiev Government and Right Sector after one of their leaders was murdered by the Government -- the PTBs are running out of time to make whatever play they have set in motion..... so we shall see what happens !
Good morning Fred, Only one newer page so I thought I would reply here.
DeleteAgree on the "lack of barking" by the military radar installations plus I would think that we have satellite coverage, visible and infrared, of the whole planet that might not be able to be searched on a real time basis but could be used to find this plane. Someday the truth will come out I hope.
Yes Russia has been smacked but really with the missing plane so has China, or at least they seem to be offended. It does feel like we are approaching someones end game.
Have a great day
Agreed - between absence of radar or satellite confirmation of the plane's presence , as well as the absence of a large debris field upon impact - we have the proverbial non barking dog. Which raises the point of to what end has all of this effort been directed ?
DeleteChina is not amused by the shenanigans at all - will Malaysia turn over all of the requested data to China or truly expose how rotten this scheme is ? I don't think China is going to allow stalling to continue indefinitely by the Malaysian authorities and I am curious to see how they interpret the data utilize to determine the alleged crash in the Indian Ocean.
Interesting times indeed - stay tuned ! Enjoy your day !
