The continuous earthquakes are assumed to be “slow earthquake [wikipedia]“, according to Geospatial Information Authority of Japan. They reported it 1 week after Fukushima Diary posted.
Geospatial Information Authority of Japan states it happened in a different plate margin from 311 (as picture attached). The new diastrophism is closer to Tokyo. They observed 6cm slip in South East direction offshore Boso peninsula.
In this location, the “slow earthquake” happened in 5. 1996, 10. 2002, 8. 2007 and 11. 2011. There were intervals of 77 months, 58 months and 50 months but this time it was only 27 months, which means the slow earthquake is occurring increasingly frequently offshore Chiba.
They added “the new irregular diastrophism” is still on-going at the moment of 1/10/2014.
