An “insider threat” program launched by President Barack Obama encourages a culture of snitching among federal government employees and establishes a work environment where managers can be punished for failing to report suspicious activity, according to a feature story by McClatchy Newspapers.
Marisa Taylor and Jonathan Landay detail the “unprecedented initiative” is “sweeping in its reach.” It “extends beyond the US national security bureaucracies to most federal departments and agencies nationwide, including the Peace Corps, the Social Security Administration and the Education and Agriculture departments. It emphasizes leaks of classified material, but catchall definitions of ‘insider threat’ give agencies latitude to pursue and penalize a range of other conduct.”
“Millions of federal employees and contractors,” according to the Taylor and Landay, “must watch for ‘high-risk persons or behaviors’ among co-workers and could face penalties, including criminal charges, for failing to report them.” And, “Leaks to the media are equated with espionage.”
For example, the newspaper obtained a copy of a Defense Department strategy from June 1, 2012, that reads, “Hammer this fact home . . . leaking is tantamount to aiding the enemies of the United States.”
“Experts and current and former officials” that Taylor and Landay spoke to for the story suggested this program would likely “make it easier for the government to stifle the flow of unclassified and potentially vital information to the public, while creating toxic work environments poisoned by unfounded suspicions and spurious investigations of loyal Americans.”

Referring to how Ron Paul was obviously robbed in Maine, Obama says "Look what they did up in Maine...They wanted Paul out of the picture quickly, and we all know what happened there."

Irish Politician Tells Parliament: Obama is a War Criminal

June 22, 2013
An Irish socialist politician called Obama out as a war criminal following the conclusion of the G8 in her country earlier this week.
Clare Daly told the Irish Parliament Obama is a “war criminal” and “hypocrite of the century” for his remarks concerning the Northern Ireland peace process while supporting al-Qaeda in Syria and conducting a drone program responsible for killing thousands, including innocent women and children.
“Is this person going for the hypocrite of the century award?” Daly asked. “Because we have to call things by their right names, and the reality is that by any serious examination, this man is a war criminal.”
The Irish Taoiseach, or prime minister, Enda Kenny, responded forcefully to Daly’s criticism of Obama and his visit to the country.
Kenny said the comments were a “disgrace” because Obama “wants to support [the Irish peace process] visibly, personally and with assistance from the US where 35 million Irish-Americans want this peace process to continue.”
At least 600 Russians and Europeans fighting alongside Syrian opposition – Putin

At least 600 Russians and Europeans are fighting alongside the rebels battling the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“It is known that there are at least 600 people from Russia and Europe fighting along with opposition forces in Syria,” Putin said during the Forum’s plenary session.
Putin reiterated that weapon supplies to the Syrian rebels violate international law, and threaten to further destabilize the war-torn state.
"Why supply weapons to militant forces in Syria when we are not sure of the composition of these groups?” he said, adding that it remains unclear where these arms will end up.
"If the United States ... recognizes one of the key Syrian opposition organizations, al-Nusra, as terrorist ... how can one deliver arms to those opposition members?" Putin said. "Where will (those weapons) end up? What role will they play?"
Russia’s Foreign Ministry has also criticized the supply of arms to the rebels in separate remarks to AP and Bloomberg: “The problem is that the weapons are coming to the region anyway,” Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
“And if you take, you know, stock of what is being used by the opposition you would find a lot of arms shipped by the West, including the US, to the Gulf countries and to other countries in the region,” he said.“So, this smuggling continues and this is very dangerous. Because the leading opposition force on the ground is very extremist.”
Putin’s remarks echo a statement made by French Interior Minister Manuel Valls earlier in June, when he said that more than 600 European nationals, including 120 from France, are fighting in Syria.
At the time, Russia said that around 200 of its citizens were fighting in Syria alongside rebel militants as part of a self-proclaimed ‘Caucasus Emirate' under the flag of Al Qaeda, and that there were “various organizations affiliated with it.”
In Spain, at least eight people allegedly linked to Al-Qaeda were arrested in Ceuta on suspicion of recruiting jihadi fighters to go to Syria, and elsewhere.
Prior to that, Belgium announced in April it had detained the leader of Sharia4Belgium, radical Salafist organization that was allegedly recruiting volunteers to fight in the Syrian civil war.
Britain was one the first Western countries to raise concerns over European Muslims joining the Syrian rebels. The Home Office voiced fears that scores of UK citizens fighting in Syria may use their military know-how to wreak havoc when they return home, and carry out terror attacks.
However, despite these concerns, EU governments agreed to not extend the arms embargo on Syria, effectively allowing them to supply the Syrian opposition with weapons.
Russia slammed the move, but in response was criticized for its contract to deliver advanced S-300 long-range air defense systems to Damascus. Moscow maintains that all arms supplies to Syria are being carried out under a contract signed with the country several years ago.
"Russia, in the framework of existing international law, in open and transparent contracts, supplies weaponry to the current and the legitimate government of Syria," Putin said at the Economic Forum.

One Photo That Says It All About Obama's Chilly Meeting With Vladimir Putin
President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a face-to-face meeting at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland on Monday.
It didn't go so well.
The two leaders shared a tense exchange on Syria and came out of the meeting with broad disagreements over the Syrian conflict. The Obama administration committed last week to sending arms to Syrian rebel forces, while Russia has publicly backed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and do not believe a successful transition includes Assad stepping down from power.
"With respect to Syria, we do have differing perspectives on the problem, but we share an interest in reducing the violence; securing chemical weapons and ensuring that they're neither used nor are they subject to proliferation; and that we want to try to resolve the issue through political means, if possible," Obama said after the meeting.
The Obama-Putin bilateral meeting was marked by chilly, icy, and somewhat miserable-looking expressions. Here's one photo that sums it up pretty well:

Obama defends US snooping in uneasy Germany
Published time: June 19, 2013 17:32
US President Barack Obama has defended the actions of his government’s spying on Germany and its citizens on his Wednesday visit to the country, shortly after NSA revelations exposed that Germany was the US’s most spied upon European nation.
The codenamed ‘Prism’ operation instigated an outcry in a nation which still remembers the East German secret ‘Stasi’ police force.
“Yes We Scan” has been a popular headline across the German press in the days preceding Obama’s visit. On the day of his arrival in the country on Wednesday, Berlin witnessed a small crowd campaigning against the NSA’s surveillance of foreign communications, with people waving placards bearing the mocking phrase.
“There has to be proportionality,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel told a news conference on Wednesday. Merkel herself grew up in the communist East. “The free democratic order is based on people feeling safe,” she stated, while conceding that on certain occasions, information needed collecting.
However, Merkel confessed surprise at the breath of spying that was exposed, saying that the US must clarify exactly what data was being collected and monitored.
Obama defended the US “encroachment on privacy” stating that it had been limited by a US-court-approved process.
“This is not a situation where we are rifling through ordinary emails of German citizens or American citizens or French citizens or anyone else,” he said on his first visit to Berlin.
It had been revealed shortly before Obama’s visit that Germany ranks as the most-spied-on EU country by the US, according to a map of secret surveillance activities by the National Security Agency (NSA).
“The questions are not yet resolved - and of course there are those - which we will discuss,” stated Merkel. Obama tried to reassure her that he was “confident that we can make the necessary balance.”

Merkel’s accompanying statement that “the Internet is new territory for all of us,” led to the phrase ‘Neuland’ going viral on German-language Twitter, with several humorous and cutting pictures being devised to accompany the phrase.
The reasons for Germany being subjected to the heightened US surveillance measures are not fully known, but Obama claimed that the US had eliminated 50 terrorist threats, which included among them attacks on Germany, as a result of their spying program.
“Germany is geographically situated between East and West. Historically it was always the case. On the other hand, Germany is strong economically within Europe. There may be economic reasons, not only protection from terrorists,” German activist and theater director Angela Richter told RT earlier this month.
The US has faced criticism from Merkel’s allies. Washington is using "American-style Stasi methods,"said Markus Ferber, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Bavarian sister party and member of the European Parliament, at the point that the scandal became more public.
Obama’s visit to Berlin fell on the anniversary of JFK’s “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech. It was also his first time speaking as President in Berlin, five years after he was running for the position as a senator. The meeting of Obama and Merkel was held at Berlin's iconic Brandenburg Gate, and their speeches were made to some 4,000 invited spectators.
“I think people were disappointed – as you already mentioned, five years ago there were 200,000 people listening to Obama and this time there were 4,000 handpicked people, most likely mainly American – that’s just, like, two percent of what he could gather as a senator,” Frederik Roeder from European Students for Liberty told RT’s Peter Oliver in Berlin.

Domestic Event: 10 – 14 Days – All DHS, FEMA Agencies Activated: The Hawk
Saturday, June 22, 2013 2:35
According to ‘The Hawk’ from Steve Quayle’s Survive2Thrive radio network and Hawks FEMA/DHS sources, FEMA called an emergency meeting this week in which it has notified the heads of all of its agencies to be ’90% battle strength’ in the next 5 weeks, 70% strength within 7 days and notified him that all agency personel are now being called in and activated. Additionally, Hawk’s sources warn to expect some type of a ‘domestic event’ within 10 to 14 days with lots of ‘chatter’ surrounding July 3rd. The ‘meat’ of this report begins at the 4 minute, 45 second mark in this video after Hawk reads some verses from the Bible that he feels are pertinent to the situation unfolding in America today.
Is this report from Hawk good intelligence or something totally astray? Watching everything unfolding in Amerikkka today, nothing is beyond the point of belief any longer. We should take this information with a grain of salt and know that time is ticking and the goal of these ‘elitists’ all along was to collapse America; what makes us think that they won’t accomplish their mission? Especially watching all the events unfolding in our country every day. If Hawk and his sources are wrong, we’re another day more prepared than we were the day before with another day to live our lives, working to make our world a better place.
Obama’s ‘Insider Threat’ Program: Discourages Whistleblowing, Treats Leaking as Aiding the Enemy

Current Internet Surveillance Still Doesn't Satisfy OfficialsIt’s never enough, is it?
Speaking to the Senate Judiciary Committee today, FBI Chief Robert Mueller lamented that the current level of Internet surveillance, now known to be enormously broad and capturing huge amounts of ordinary Americans’ day-to-day emails, is insufficient for his goals.
Direct server access to the PRISM Nine, along with all the other indirect surveillance available to the administration, and a FISA court warrant system that signs off on literally every single request, no matter how asinine, covers an awful lot of ground. But conceivably two people could still communicate in other ways online without it being hoovered up as a matter of course.
That’s a terrifying notion to Mueller, who insisted that “criminals and terrorists” (and everyone else) have access to communications tools that he can’t always immediately spy on, and getting warrants keeps him from getting “timely” access. So he wants more unilateral authority.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) was quick to reject the notion, noting that the government already has ridiculous levels of surveillance ongoing at any given time, and describing as “breathtaking” the notion that they would ask for even more. Since Mueller did use the word “terrorist” in his remarks, however, it will likely mean broad support in the Senate for whatever he wants.

Russ Tice, Bush-Era Whistleblower, Claims NSA Ordered Wiretap Of Barack Obama In 2004
The Huffington Post | By Nick Wing Posted: 06/20/2013 2:11 pm EDT | Updated: 06/20/2013 7:04 pm EDT
Russ Tice, a former intelligence analyst who in 2005 blew the whistle on what he alleged was massive unconstitutional domestic spying across multiple agencies, claimed Wednesday that the NSA had ordered wiretaps on phones connected to then-Senate candidate Barack Obama in 2004.
Speaking on "The Boiling Frogs Show," Tice claimed the intelligence community had ordered surveillance on a wide range of groups and individuals, including high-ranking military officials, lawmakers and diplomats.
"Here's the big one ... this was in summer of 2004, one of the papers that I held in my hand was to wiretap a bunch of numbers associated with a 40-something-year-old wannabe senator for Illinois," he said. "You wouldn't happen to know where that guy lives right now would you? It's a big white house in Washington, D.C. That's who they went after, and that's the president of the United States now."
Host Sibel Edmonds and Tice both raised concerns that such alleged monitoring of subjects, unbeknownst to them, could provide the intelligence agencies with huge power to blackmail their targets.
"I was worried that the intelligence community now has sway over what is going on," Tice said.
After going public with his allegations in 2005, Tice later admitted that he had been a key source in a bombshell New York Times report that blew the lid off the Bush administration's use of warrantless wiretapping of international communications in the U.S. The article forced Bush to admit that the practice was indeed used on a small number of Americans, but Tice maintained that the NSA practice was likely being used the gather records for millions of Americans. The NSA denied Tice's allegations.
In the wake of recent reports detailing the extent of the NSA's data surveillance programs, Tice has again come out as a skeptic of the administration's response. While defenders of the program have insisted that there is nothing to suggest the government has the authority -- or desire -- to listen in on people's phone calls without a warrant, Tice told The Guardian that he believes the NSA has developed the capability "to collect all digital communications word for word."

MSNBC Censors NSA Whistleblower Russ Tice Minutes Before Interview
Friday, 21. June 2013
On Wednesday, June 19, Boiling Frogs Post brokethe news on the NSA’s targeting of political candidates, elected officials, federal judges, law firms and activists, including candidate Barack Obama, revealed by veteran NSA officer and whistleblower Russ Tice.
In this bombshell episode of the Boiling Frogs Post Podcast Show NSA whistleblower Tice went on record for the first time with new revelations and names of official culprits involved in the NSA’s illegal practices, and explained in detail how the National Security Agency targets, sucks-in, stores and analyzes illegally obtained content from the masses in the United States. He revealed for the first time the NSA Deep State involved in the targeting and wiretapping of US elected officials, political candidates, federal judges and activists for its own purposes.
Prior to his exclusive interview with Boiling Frogs Post, Mr. Tice tried to expose these government illegalities through US mainstream and larger pseudo alternative media outlets. Both mainstream and quasi alternative media outlets refused to publish or air Mr. Tice’s revelations; while some cited legal concerns others refrained from providing any justification whatsoever.
Today MSNBC aired an interview with Mr. Tice disclosing “some” of his revelations, thanks to the vigilant activists who tirelessly shared and disseminated Mr. Tice’s revelations and interview audio. Interestingly, at the last minute, MSNBC told Mr. Tice that they would NOT include his revelations on NSA’s targeting of Obama, elected officials, attorneys, judges and activists. Basically, they censored his entire testimony on these stunning allegations!
In a correspondence with Boiling Frogs Post immediately following his censored interview with MSNBC Mr. Tice stated:
“When they were placing the ear-phone in my ear with less than ten minutes left till my air time, the producer in New York said that their lawyers were discussing the material, and at this time, they did not want me to mention anything about the NSA wiretaps against all the people and organizations that I mentioned. That is how it went down. I did say on the air that I know it is much worse and would like to talk about that some time.”
…
The pathetic sorry state of the United States Media! But, that’s the negative part. There are some positives:
This is another instant of proving the idea of People-Power. This is another case where a truly independent alternative outlet dares to expose government illegality and cover-up. This is one more example illustrating the power that rests with the people-no matter the size and its irate minority status.
We can do it. We must do it. We have to continue and expand. We need to escalate our pressure and raise our stand as the opposition to our expanding police state oppression. It starts with us-and it ends with us. Kudos to us-the people-power.
Here is the MSNBC segment with NSA Whistleblower Russ Tice:
