As we celebrate Memorial Day and those who in many cases made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our way of life and allow us to pursue happiness , liberty and justice for all ........ we have to look around at what's happening in our country. We are been divided - not just by and across racial and religious divisions , we are being divided across economic , financial chasms - a wealth effect for some is a poverty effect and living for today effect for many more Americans. Americans are being divided / separated - even more so than in the past , from Law Enforcement in their communities , protesters are being deemed and treated as domestic terrorists , the heavy arm of the State becomes an every day ordinary set of circumstances , violence is becoming mind numbingly and casually a norm ! Those who seek to protect and respect , let alone act on Constitutional rights are scorned or even beaten down or tasered. Is the American Dream over ?

Activists Tasered and Arrested Protesting Holder and Bank Fraud

Activist Post

More than two dozen arrests have followed in the wake of multi-day protests in various locations targeting the Department of Justice and their dereliction of duty to prosecute the involvement of major banks in foreclosure fraud.

Protests began several days ago at law firm Covington & Burling where Attorney General Holder was formerly a partner. Holder's connection to the law firm is seen to represent the collusion between government and some of the big banks allegedly responsible for the mortgage scandal. Covington & Burling have represented Bank of America, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo. Protesters literally blocked "the revolving door" to make their point.

Activists and homeowners chanted the familiar refrain from the Occupy movement, "Banks Got Bailed Out; We Got Sold Out" and "The People United Are Too Big To Fail" as seen in the video below. It appears that excessive force had been used during previous days, as Homeland Security worked with local police to quell the disturbance:
In addition to District of Columbia police, the video also shows Homeland Security officers at the scene. The YouTube video and a DCist post say the protest had been going on for several days, at the law firm's office building and elsewhere, and had involved previous arrests and the use of a stun gun on some individuals. According to reports, 7 protesters were arrested for unlawful entry into the lobby area at Covington & Burling, while one was charged with assaulting an officer -- which, we have been reminded, could just mean being at a protest and getting tackled and/or tasered by police.

The DCist had this to say:
Twenty-seven protesters have been arrested this week, including activist Carmen Pittman who was stunned by police with a taser Tuesday outside the Department of Justice. On Monday, protesters blocked traffic on Constitution Avenue in front of the DOJ building and were arrested for doing so. The protests are organized in part byOccupy Our Homes and Home Defenders League
The Department of Justice has yet to acknowledge the protests, according to the Huffington Post.
The video of Carmen Pittman, already restrained, then tasered can be seen here:

Note by Alex Jones: We are staunch supporters of the First Amendment, but you can also see the perspective of the city of Houston. The locations listed for Kanye West’s flash performance range from public parks and spaces to private property. Whereas permits are not generally constitutional for political speech, they are for commercial purposes. Below is a video I shot in Houston at one of Kanye West’s locations – the George Herbert Walker Bush memorial. Infowars.com’s use of the site did not interfere with anyone else’s use of the public space and was purely historical and political speech.
Houston police shut down the public showing of a new music video by Kanye West at the Rothko Chapel on Friday night.
The rap superstar had announced the performance via Twitter and posted locations on his website, but when fans turned out in Houston they were threatened with arrest for trespassing, even though they were described as “upbeat” and “respectful.”
Police “pulled several cars onto the grass, flashed lights and sirens and demanded everyone leave or be arrested for trespassing. Folks slowly dispersed when it was clear this wasn’t part of the show,” theHouston Chronicle reported.
The West video is considered controversial due to its racially-charged content. It was also shut down at the Central Library in downtown Houston and the George Bush Monument.
Houston officialdom believe the shows are illegal because the promoters did not ask permission to project the video on public buildings and landmarks. The city, however, did not issue a formal statement on the police response to the event.
From The Guardian today:
While Houston police said the cancellations were due to issues of permits and public safety, some observers have wondered if the content of the song caused the authorities to intervene. As West rages against institutionalized racism in New Slaves, he has some special words for the prison-industrial complex, in which police play an important role. “The DEA teamed up with the CCA,” West raps. “They tryin’ to lock niggas up/ They tryin’ to make new slaves/ See that’s that privately owned prisons/ Get your piece today.”

Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has ruled against environmental groups attempting to force the EPA to regulate ammunition as a hazardous toxin.
In 2010, the EPA said it did not have the authority to regulate the Second Amendment.
Sullivan said that the EPA acted within its authority in denying a second petition from the Center for Biological Diversity and other environmental groups to outlaw the use of lead bullets under the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act. The center argues that lead contained in bullets is a potent neurotoxin and poses a threat to wildlife.
The Center for Biological Diversity led a coalition of approximately 100 groups.
According to E & E Publishing News, the environmentalists waited too long to file suit after the initial 2010 lawsuit in response to the EPA’s decision not to challenge the Second Amendment.
California has outlawed lead ammunition in central and southern California where the endangered California condor lives and is considering a move to impose the ban statewide. Arizona has a voluntary ban in place.

Grief over a Kentucky officer’s death is giving way to rage and anxiety as police believe someone set up a trap just to kill their colleague or another driver.
Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis was driving home from work around 2 a.m. Saturday when he noticed some debris on the road, Kentucky State Police Trooper Norman Chaffins told CNN.
When Ellis got out of his car to remove the debris, he was shot multiple times.
“It was an obvious ambush,” Chaffins said. “He never used his service weapon. It was holstered.”

A Batavia High School teacher’s fans are rallying to support him as he faces possible discipline for advising students of their Constitutional rights before taking a school survey on their behavior.
They’ve been collecting signatures on an online petition, passing the word on Facebook, sending letters to the school board, and planning to speak at Tuesday’s school board meeting.
Students and parents have praised his ability to interest reluctant students in history and current affairs.
But John Dryden said he’s not the point. He wants people to focus on the issue he raised: Whether school officials considered that students could incriminate themselves with their answers to the survey that included questions about drug and alcohol use.
