Have no illusions about where this is headed: The Pentagon wants to develop and deploy a robotic army of autonomous soldiers that will kill without hesitation. It's only a matter of time before these robots are armed with rifles, grenade launchers and more. Filopappoy hill lays opposite from Acropolis. A pice of wild nature in the middle of the city. With trees and bushes, and hidden paths and several caves. Small holes inside the hill, where Athens’ new poor have found shelter. Men and women who lost their job and home due to austerity and recession. Men and women, who think better in a cave than on the street.
In an exclusive report by news portal NewsIt.gr, we read of the case of Mister Giorgos. A middle-aged man, a construction worker, exactly a marble worker, who lost his job three years ago.
With his savings he managed to pay rent and utilities for two years. But then the money was over. ” I couldn’t pay even 100 euro,” Giorgos says, adding “look, to what state we came down.”

He had to move to the streets. One day while on the line of a church soup kitchen, he heard about the caves of Filopappou. “A man told me about the caves, I had no idea what to expect.”
He found a cave, transported some of the furniture he owned and there he moved in his new … villa in the green.
However, this villa has no fence, no watch dogs and no bodyguards. The man expresses the fear he often feels especially at night. Fear from those who could kill him for just ten euro.
“It’s very hard in the winter, when the cold comes in from all side,” Giorgos says, stressing that he definitely needs a job.
“Any job. I work with tiles and marble. Any job, so I can move to some basement…”
Giorgos resides in his self-made villa, since almost a year.
At least 15 people, among them also a couple, live in the caves of Filopappou. Some of them desperately waiting for the crisis to be over.
15 people who are left with nothing but their dignity. Better in a cave than on a street bench. Better in a cave than owing money to the landlord, the baker, the grosser or to utility companies….

I just spoke with a close associate who has been working for the last three years at Barksdale Air Force Base, on various construction projects… This man is just a guy…a construction worker…been there all his life…salt of the earth kind of guy. In his words…”I am just a working man…doing the best I can do.”Our sources report that military personnel at the largest Army base in the country have been instructed by military leaders to have their bags packed in the event that the situation goes hot. Troops have reportedly been told to have their financial affairs and family matters in order. “Moving in warheads…I was working in an area where cruise missles are brought in, put together, armed, and shipped out.”
His exact words were, “They are shipping some serious s*** over there.”

He also stated that “they dropped a bunch dummy bombs on some islands off the coast of North Korea”..(I just read a confirmation of that from an intelligence newsletter, and confirmed by WND an hour ago.)
I asked him if Chinese officers were still on base. He replied that he had not been working in the area in which he first saw them, for the last three weeks, but he did say this…
“The Chinese and the Russians are here…let me put it this way…everybody in the UN plus a few more are in here. (U.S.)”
He heard and directly quoted one officer referring to the testing of anti-ballistic missile defense system, “We are going to see a real test, now.” He then said that he heard “Intelligence says there will be an attack on American soil.”
He then stated that these defense missile systems were ” being shipped to several bases.”

NORFOLK, VA. — The Air Force is grounding about a third of its active-duty combat aircraft because of automatic spending cuts.
The stand-down will affect units stationed in the U.S., Europe and the Pacific. Those units include fighter, bomber, aggressor and airborne warning and control squadrons.
Air Combat Command at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Va. made the announcement Tuesday.
Some units deployed that include F-16s, F-22s, A-10s and B-1s will stand down after they return home from their deployments. Other units began Tuesday.
The Air Force says the stand-down is the result of cuts to the command’s operations and maintenance account. The Air Force says it must reduce its flying by about 45,000 fewer training hours before Oct. 1 than it previously planned.

President Barack Obama traveled to Hartford, Connecticut on Monday and delivered a speech calling for a vote on the Second Amendment. He lashed out at Republicans who plan to resist attempts by Congress to destroy the right to bear firearms.
“Some folks in Washington are already floating the idea that they may use political stunts to prevent votes on any of these reforms,” Obama said. “They’re not just saying they’ll vote no on ideas that almost all Americans support. They’re saying they’ll do everything they can to even prevent any votes on these provisions.”
Obama’s use of the phrase “political stunts” is a reference to the possibility of a Senate filibuster to stop legislation.
On March 22, Republican senators Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid stating their intention to oppose any legislation threatening to destroy the constitutional right to bear arms.
“We, the undersigned, intend to oppose any legislation that would oppose on the American people’s constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance,” the letter states. “The Second Amendment to the Constitution protects citizens’ right to self-defense. It speaks to history’s lesson that government cannot be in all places at all times, and history’s warning about the oppression of a government that tries.”
The establishment media, led by the New York Times, has launched a campaign to portray Paul and more than a dozen other senators concerned about the future of the Constitution as obstructionists.
“The gun lobby is spreading the pernicious falsehood that a background check will lead to a gun registry, and a registry will lead to a knock on the front door by a government SWAT team intent on confiscating the nation’s weapons. Mr. Paul and the other signatories who share this belief have promised to filibuster that bill. And given his newfound interest in the dramatic arts, he is probably planning to perform in another C-Span marathon in the weeks to come,” the Time editorialized as Obama gave his speech in Hartford.
Chris Matthews and Rev. Al Sharpton told MSNBC’s diminished audience that most Americans want universal background checks – and hence registration and ultimately firearm confiscation – and demanded Republicans put aside their “partisanship” and allow Democrats in Congress to vote on a bill that will strike a blow to the cornerstone of the Constitution.
Matthews admitted MSNBC has consistently waged a war against the Second Amendment. “I think MSNBC and you and I and a bunch of other people on this network have been keeping up the fight for gun safety” since the Sandy Hook massacre, “not just a few times but consistently every night,” he said.

The Department of Homeland Security is testing a number of different drones at a scientific research facility in Oklahoma that have sensors capable of detecting whether a person is armed, stoking concerns that the federal agency is planning on using UAVs to harass gun owners.
Researchers with Oklahoma State University are masterminding the drones for the DHS at a nondescript building that houses the Oklahoma Training Center for Unmanned Systems.
Field testing of the drones is being carried out at Ft. Sill Army Post near Lawton, Oklahoma, allowing the UAVs to avoid prying eyes due to the camp’s 200 square miles of restricted airspace.
Toney Stricklin, a member of the Governor’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Council, said the primary purpose of the drones was “to catch the bad guys.”
Attorney David Slane told KWTV-9 that the drones represented a threat to “privacy rights.”
A HSToday.us report details how, “SUAS sensor platforms are being tested for use by “first responder and homeland security operational communities” that “can distinguish between unarmed and armed (exposed) personnel,” as well as conducting detection, surveillance, tracking and laser designation of targets of interest at stand-off ranges, according to the RAPS (Robotic Aircraft for Public Safety) Test Plan obtained by Homeland Security Today.”
The drones are also fitted with cameras that can record “scene data” in high definition (HD) quality and consist of “fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft having gross takeoff weights of 25 lbs. or less.” A “Privacy Impact Assessment” conducted by a DHS official concluded that the drones posed no privacy issues – which is kind of like a fox concluding that a henhouse poses no safety issues.
A RAPS program official who declined to provide his identity assured critics that the sensor capabilities on the drones would not be used for “nefarious” purposes.
However, given that the DHS has purchased in excess of 1.6 billion bullets, which many see as an attempt to put a stranglehold on the ammunition market as an end run around the Second Amendment, such statements ring hollow.
The RAPS plan also notes how the cost of the drones being tested is continually plummeting, opening the door for some “50,000 police and fire departments” in the country to set up their own “aviation departments.”
Testing of the drones is also set to expand to two further locations, the Oklahoma National Guard’s Camp Gruber and the University Multispectral Laboratory’s test site at Chilocco, Okla.
“Public and congressional concerns over the expanding use of UAVs of all kinds by federal, state and local law enforcement were exacerbated recently following a report by CNET.com that DHS has “customized its Predator drones” to be able to “identify civilians carrying guns and tracking their cell phones,” writes Anthony Kimery.
“CNET.com reported that DHS’s “specifications for its drones … ‘shall be capable of identifying a standing human being at night as likely armed or not,’” and that “They also specify ‘signals interception’ technology that can capture communications in the frequency ranges used by mobile phones and ‘direction finding’ technology that can identify the locations of mobile devices or two-way radios.”
The Electronic Privacy Information Center’s Ginger McCall said the testing was, “clearly evidence that the Department of Homeland Security is developing drones with signals interception technology and the capability to identify people on the ground.”
After initially covering the DHS’ plan for “public safety drones” in October 2012, we first reported on DHS-funded drones being used in the context of the federal government’s gun control agenda in February of this year. A promotional video for the Shadowhawk drone, a 50lb mini helicopter that can be fitted with an XREP taser with the ability to fire four barbed electrodes that can be shot to a distance of 100 feet, depicted the UAV being used to spy on a private gun sale.
The fictional scenario falsely characterized the private sale of firearms as an illegal activity, with the drone being used to gather information on the individuals involved in the transaction.
After being used against Somali pirates and insurgents in Afghanistan, the Department of Homeland Security approved the Shadowhawk drone for use on domestic soil in 2011, prompting the Sheriff’s Office of Montgomery County, Texas to purchase one for a cool $500,000 dollars, aided by a $250,000 DHS grant.

US Government To Decide How Much Is Enough For Your Retirement
Welcome to the new US. Socialism always has the same predictable process. Once the government collectivizes a sector then the politicos and bureaucrats get to work on “improving the system”. In a private enterprise, that’d mean offering more to your customers for a cheaper price. In government, it is always the opposite, finding ways to reduce benefits for their “customers”.
This is why Obamacare is and will be a disaster to anyone interested in having quality medical care and choice in the US. Once the government uses its force to gain a monopoly on a sector like medical care then all of a sudden it now becomes everyone else’s business what you do with your own body. You smoke? You should be stopped! Don’t wear a seatbelt? You should be fined. Why? Because we are all paying for each other’s medical care and so it now becomes everyone else’s business what you do with your health because it could potentially cost them more money.
The same has been happening since the US government has had a multi-decade long monopoly on retirement savings (IRAs). Since they get to make the rules they get to decide just how much is enough for your retirement and that is exactly what will be happening next week when President Obama will be releasing his budget plan which will limit how much a wealthy individual can keep in those tax-reducing IRA plans and other retirement accounts.
According to a senior administration official, wealthy taxpayers can currently “accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving“…and of course in the communist administration’s eyes, that’s a real shame. The job of government is of course to “level the playing field” by stealing from and putting up obstacles for those with “too much.”
What is the “reasonable amount” that he thinks is enough? The numbers being bandied about seem to indicate $3 million. Sounds like quite a bit, right? Well, let’s look further at the proposal.
“The budget would limit an individual’s total balance across tax-preferred accounts to an amount sufficient to finance an annuity of not more than $205,000 per year in retirement, or about $3 million in 2013.”
So, according to them, $205,000 per year is sufficient and people should not be allowed to have more than that in retirement savings. But, remember, disbursements from an IRA are taxable, so that $205,000, if you lived in any number of states where total income taxes are over 50%, very quickly brings that number down to around $100,000 after theft… or tax as they call it. Of course, that is just the beginning of other payments to the state. Your average person with a $3 million IRA probably lives in at least a $1 million house. If that person lived in New Jersey where property tax averages 1.89% of property value, then you can take another $19,000 off of the remaining $100,000 for property tax payments to rent his own home.

Of course, there will be numerous – countless really – other taxes paid over the course of the year… gasoline tax, cigarette taxes, alcohol taxes and numerous others. But, even without including those we are already below $7,000/month.
But here is the real kicker. If that person did take the $205,000/year annuity, their retirement funds would only last them fourteen years. Of course, some may state that they could and should be earning a return during that time which will extend it.
But your average person who owns mostly 2% paying dividend stocks or 2% paying Treasuries is actually losing nearly 10% per year to monetary inflation. The US central bank’s current rate of money printing - which does and will turn into price increases – is over 10%. If they are losing 8% per year on that $3 million then it will only be ten years before that $3 million is actually only worth $1.3 million in real dollars.
That $205,000 per annum, at today’s monetary inflation rate, also will only be equivalent to $90,000 in ten years time. After all the taxes to be paid that person would be likely eating cat food just to survive.
These are the wonders of the American Dream today. It is turning into a nightmare. They have you coming and going from all sides. And then, if you manage to survive all the taxes and inflation, whatever remaining money you have left will be mostly gutted by the death tax. Yes, there is a tax to die in the land of the free. And don’t try to commit suicide either. That’s illegal.
Next Confiscation
This, of course, is the warm up for big confiscation of retirement account money later on… a topic that has already been discussed openly in Congress. I can’t understand why anyone would put their money in a retirement vehicle under government control. That’s like putting your child in a cage full of lions for safekeeping.
A much better option would be a self-directed IRA like the one we offer here at TDV. Also, did you know that you can buy real estate with your IRA? A good option would be real estate in another nation-state since the US government would have a very hard time confiscating that. You could invest in anincome-producing condo in beautiful Acapulco, for example…or you could buy investment property in our burgeoning liberty-minded community at Galt’s Gulch, Chile.
You could also invest in precious metals in a self-directed IRA and get a significant amount of them into jurisdictions that are much less likely to collapse in the coming years (for more on doing that, seeGetting Your Gold Out Of Dodge – free to TDV subscribers). And it wouldn’t hurt to take some of those savings and invest in a foreign passport in a place that doesn’t view your assets as their own.
The central planners in the US and most Western governments have and will decide how much is “enough” for you to have and if you manage to still have significant assets after that, they’ll continue to whittle them away via taxation and inflation. It’s all easily predictable as this is where things always go once things are socialized or collectivized.
As Winston Churchill said, “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.”
We don’t suggest you wait much longer before removing yourself and your assets from a system set on ensuring the equal sharing of misery.
