Taft High School students ask why school administrators didn’t do something about Bryan Oliver; ‘They were oblivious’
As Twitchy reported on Thursday, at least two students at Taft High School tweeted concerns about alleged shooter Bryan Oliver on December 15, 2012.
The above tweets were posted nearly four weeks before Thursday’s shooting took place.
Many Taft High School students believe that school administrators should have done more:
As we noted in our Thursday post, at least one student met with Vice Principal Rona Angelo in connection with her tweets about the threat posed by Oliver.

Taft High School’s ticking time bomb: Students warned in December that alleged shooter had “made a hit list,” “always talks about murder”
After the Newtown school massacre, I compiled a list of 6 simple things we can do in the wake of massacres without government. This was item number 2:
2. Train our kids: When they see something troublesome or wrong, say something. If a young classmate exhibits bizarre or violent behavior toward himself/herself, other students, teachers, or parents, report it right away. If it gets ignored, say it louder. Don’t give up. Don’t just shrug off the “weirdo” saying/doing dangerous things and don’t just hope someone else will act.
The shooting at Taft High School in Kern County, California, yesterday illuminates the importance of this very point — and the need for parents to back up their kids when they speak out. It turns out that a few students did speak up about the ticking time bomb in their midst. As Twitchy reports exclusively, students voiced their concerns about the alleged shooter on Twitter back in December — and were then apparently called into the vice principal’s office. Instead of the school taking action, however, it appears the whistleblowing students were instead disciplined for tweeting about the student. They had warned that the disturbed classmate had “made a hit list” and “always talks about murder like he’s obsessed with it.” Back in December, students also talked about the alleged shooter’s animosity for a student named “Bowe.”
Bowe Cleveland was the student who was shot yesterday.
Who dropped the ball at the school, and why?

Authorities say a boy who fired on classmates and wounded one at a rural California high school had planned the attack and targeted students he felt had bullied him for more than a year.
Kern County sheriff Donny Youngblood said at a news conference Thursday night that the 16-year-old used a shotgun that belonged to his brother and went to bed Wednesday night with a plan to shoot two fellow students.
Youngblood says surveillance video shows the boy trying to conceal the gun as he nervously enters Taft Union High School through a side entrance after school had started Thursday morning.
The boy entered his classroom, shot and critically injured one student, then fired on others before a teacher and another staff member talked him into surrendering.

A 16-year-old student armed with a shotgun walked into class in a rural California high school on Thursday and shot one student, fired at another and missed, and then was talked into surrendering by a teacher and another staff member, officials said.
The teen victim was in critical but stable condition, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood told a press conference. The sheriff said the teacher at Taft Union High School suffered a minor pellet wound to the head and declined treatment.
The gunman had as many as 20 rounds of ammunition in his pocket, the sheriff said.
When the shots were fired, the teacher tried to get the more than two dozen students out a back door and also engaged the shooter in conversation to distract him, Youngblood said. A campus supervisor responding to a call of shots fired also began talking to the gunman.
"They talked him into putting that shotgun down. He in fact told the teacher, `I don't want to shoot you,' and named the person that he wanted to shoot," Youngblood said.
"The heroics of these two people goes without saying. ... They could have just as easily ... tried to get out of the classroom and left students and they didn't," the sheriff said. "They knew not to let him leave the classroom with that shotgun."
The shooter didn't show up for first period then interrupted the class of 28 students.
Investigators had not yet had a chance to interview the student and so had no immediate word on a motive or whether the attacker had a previous disciplinary record. Nor did they know where he got the shotgun.
The wounded student was flown to a hospital in Bakersfield. Officials said a female student was hospitalized with possible hearing damage because the shotgun was fired close to her ear, and another girl received minor injuries during the scramble to flee when she fell over a table.
Officials said there's usually an armed officer on campus, but the person wasn't there because he was snowed in. Taft police officers arrived within 60 seconds of first reports.
The shooting occurred at the school in Taft, a community of fewer than 10,000 people amid oil and natural gas production fields about 120 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
The attack came less than a month after a gunman massacred 20 children and six women at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., then killed himself.
That shooting prompted President Barack Obama to promise new efforts to curb gun violence. Vice President Joe Biden, who was placed in charge of the initiative, said he would deliver new policy proposals to the president by next week.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said in a statement that her father had attended Taft Union and she has visited the school over the years.
"At this moment my thoughts and prayers are with the victims, and I wish them a speedy recovery," Feinstein said. "But how many more shootings must there be in America before we come to the realization that guns and grievances do not belong together?"
As word spread about the Taft shooting, Dayna Hopper rushed to the school to pick up her son Joseph Sorensen, 16, and daughter, Cheryle Pryor, 15, who had called from Cheryle's cellphone.
"I panicked. I wanted to puke and just get here," Dayna Hopper told The Bakersfield Californian (http://bit.ly/ZxkQUf).
KERO-TV Bakersfield reported that the station received phone calls from people inside the school who hid in closets.
The bell had just rung at a nearby school when teachers began shouting for students to get inside buildings, and the principal used an intercom to tell students to stay inside, Felicity Reich, 13, a student at Lincoln Junior High School, told the newspaper.
Shaken, she held the hand of her mother, Ellie Reich, as she spoke.
About 900 students are enrolled at the high school, which includes 9th through 12th grades. Authorities went room by room through the school and expected to spend the day checking backpacks to make sure no other weapons were on campus.
Masses of parents headed to the school football field to find their children, and officials at other schools took action to protect their students as well, the newspaper said.
Wilhelmina Reum, whose daughter Alexis Singleton is a fourth-grader at a nearby elementary school, got word of the attack while she was about 35 miles away in Bakersfield and immediately sped back to Taft.
"I just kept thinking this can't be happening in my little town," she told The Associated Press.
"I was afraid I was going to get hurt," Alexis said. "I just wanted my mom to get here so I could go home."
At the state Capitol, Assembly Speaker John Perez, D-Los Angeles, said the thoughts and prayers of legislators were with the people at the Taft school.

"It really is just another very sad moment as we deal with the ongoing reality of gun violence that has captured so much of our attention this last year," Perez said.

One student critically wounded in California school shooting
(Reuters) - A student armed with a shotgun opened fire at a California high school on Thursday, critically wounding a fellow student before two adult staff members talked the boy into giving up his weapon, and he was arrested, authorities said.
The shooting comes less than four weeks after a December rampage at a Connecticut elementary school where a gunman killed 20 children and six adults in an attack that shocked the nation and has fueled a heated national debate over gun control.
The latest shooting unfolded Thursday morning at Taft Union High School in the Kern County town of Taft, about 30 miles southwest of Bakersfield and about 100 miles north of downtown Los Angeles
One student critically wounded by gunfire was airlifted to a nearby hospital, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said.
A second student received minor injuries while falling over a table trying the flee the classroom, and a third student was taken to a hospital complaining of hearing loss from the sound of a gun blast, Youngblood said.
The lone suspect, a 16-year-old male student, was arrested after a teacher and a school administrator who confronted him persuaded the boy to put his gun down, Youngblood told a televised news conference.
His identity was not immediately released, but police said the suspect apparently had a disagreement with the student who was critically injured.
Sheriff's deputies called to the scene went room-by-room to secure the school, and television news images showed students lined up on the sidewalk outside the school, with parents stopped in cars to pick them up.

[UPDATE 5:45 p.m. ET] The gunman in the Taft High School shooting on Thursday has been identified as a 16-year-old student. One victim is in critical but stable condition and another received minor wounds. The shooter was talked into surrendering by a teacher and another staff member and is in police custody. About 900 students are enrolled in grades 9 through 12.
This is an update on the California shooting. The original story is below.
On the same day that Vice President Joe Biden is meeting with representatives of the National Rifle Association (NRA), a school shooting took place Thursday morning at Taft Union High School near Bakersfield, Calif.
The latest school shooting too place shortly after 9 a.m. local time, and reports have indicated that the shooter was taken into custody about 20 minutes later. Early reports say that one student, possibly two, were shot and that they were being airlifted to a hospital in Bakersfield for treatment.
Kern County sheriff spokesman Ray Pruitt told reporters the gunman was a student and that a shotgun was used.
23 ABC News reported they received calls from students hiding in closets advising them of the shooting.
The shooting comes on the second day of Biden's meetings with interested parties on the issue of gun control and access to guns by people with mental health conditions.
A week after the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting in mid-December, the NRA responded to calls for tighter gun restrictions by suggesting that each school in America have police officers or armed guards on campus.
That suggestion was met with some resistance by gun control advocates such as Calif. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D) who is making plans to once again try and restrict purchases of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who is the House Majority Whip, represents the area where Taft Union High School is located and offered an emailed statement to The Christian Post soon after hearing the news.
"I am deeply saddened and troubled by news of the shooting. Judy and I offer our prayers to the victims, their families and the entire Taft community."
Further updates will be posted as more information emerges.

Two People Shot In California High School

See if you can find out anything about that band. Who those youngsters are, who their parents are etc.
Truly, I am very serious.
And a few days ago the LORD said 'HUMANITY IS TWO STEPS AWAY FROM HELL'. He has never said that word 'hell' to me before.
With gun tzar Joe Biden expected to propose his "gun recommendations" to Obama by next Tuesday, a proposal which will certainly involve some additional measure of gun control, the last thing the nation needed was more gas being poured into the fire today. Yet that is precisely what it got following news that two people had been shot, one of which reportedly a student, at Taft Union High School in the San Joaquin Valley in California earlier. From AP: "A student was shot and wounded at a San Joaquin Valley high school Thursday and a suspect was taken into custody, officials said. The shooting occurred about 9 a.m. at Taft Union High School, an oil and agricultural community about 120 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The student who was shot was flown to a hospital in Bakersfield, said Ray Pruitt, spokesman for the Kern County Sheriff’s Department. There was no immediate word on the victim’s condition. “We have a suspect in custody,” Pruitt said, adding that the person was believed to be a student. Pruitt said it’s believed a shotgun was used in the attack. KERO-TV Bakersfield reported that the station received phone calls from people inside the school who hid in closets."
Reuters adds: "A California ABC affiliate reported that sheriff's deputies were going room-by-room to secure the school and that two people had been shot, but had no immediate word on their condition. It said the shooter had been apprehended by police." Needless to say this will merely inflame tensions over both the cause of such incidents, as well as the mandated response, yet will hardly lead to an amicable resolution for people on both sides of the argument.
Meanwhile, USA today reports:
Vice President Biden said Thursday that he plans to deliver his gun violence task force's recommendations to President Obama by early next week."I have committed to him that I will have the recommendations to him by Tuesday," Biden said. The vice president's comments came at the start of a meeting with representatives of hunters and wildlife interest groups. Biden was tapped to develop a broad set of recommendations for Obama in the aftermath of last month's shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. The vice president said he is considering several recommendations he has heard repeatedly from stakeholders — including instituting universal background checks and limiting size of high-capacity magazines."There is a surprising, so far, recurrence of suggestions that we have universal background checks," Biden said.Later Thursday afternoon, Biden and other senior administration officials will meet with representatives from gun rights groups, including James Baker, legislative director of the powerful National Rifle Association (NRA).Biden, along with Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, are also scheduled to meet with entertainment industry executives later Thursday. At this rate February is shaping up to be quite an active month: the debt ceiling, the sequester, possibly more tax hikes, and to top it all: gun control. At least the market is convinced that all will be promptly and effectively resolved, if few others.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Officials from Southern California colleges and schools are being trained in how to survive an attack by a campus gunman.
A two-day seminar concluded Tuesday with a simulated gunman stalking a dormitory at San Diego State University. About two dozen participants from school districts and universities in San Diego County, Los Angeles and Bakersfield, along with some police and private security personnel, took part.
They practiced barricading doors, hiding, escaping and confronting the gunman.
The seminar was planned months before December's Connecticut school massacre.
In the wake of that attack, the San Diego school board on Tuesday ordered a safety review of all campuses. Staff will report back on ways to improve school safety and security in the event of attacks, fires, earthquakes or other disasters.

I had just left LOP after responding to to SG and then responding to a welcome PM.
I was then given the location KILOWATT, I put Kilowatt in the search engine and Kern County, California came up.
I then sent an email to the USA with an alert on the location. Then spoke to someone by PM on LOP about it.
After that I went off to see if there was any news about Kilowatt.
What did I find?
There is a band on myspace called '‘The Kilowatt Murder Scene’
Now I am taking a chance on this because the chances are that if it is being planned by your government, if they know we know, if could be cancelled.
If it is not the government, and you all feel it is for real. Then tell everyone to take their kids out of school.
Truly, I don't swear very often, but I do feel like swearing now.
If nothing happens I will be very happy. However, all the signs point to the opposite.
