Futures Leaking As Japan Cuts Economic Assessment And Aussie Home Sales Slump

No sooner had Azumi announced his rather unsurprising admission (via Bloomberg) that:
- *JAPAN CUTS ASSESSMENT OF DOMESTIC ECONOMY
- *AZUMI SAYS HE SEES RISK OF GOVT FUNDS DRYING UP
then Aussie Home Sales came in much weaker than expected(and their lowest in six months). The repatriation of JPY accelerated - dragging JPY higher and snapping all the other majors lower relative to the USD; and AUD weakened significantly (though already priced for some easing). Of course, as a funding pair for everything still, the AUDJPY carry-unwind is weighing on equity futures (though minimally for now).
AUDJPY vs ES...
but all the JPY crosses are under pressure (up is USD strength in chart below):
and if you think i was really joking about the ricebowl ......
4 prefectures ended up building final disposal sites of highly radioactive waste within their lands

Radiation still keeps leaking from Fukushima plant.
The small country Japan is becoming full of radioactive waste, they are starting to have to find final disposal site somewhere.

The incineration facility of Chiba ended up having to incinerate radioactive waste to reduce the volume. (cf. Incineration facility gets full of radioactive material, has to restart incineration)
3 other prefectures and Chiba decided to make final disposal site within their own prefectures.

Because of Fukushima, local governments are suffering from rapidly increasing radioactive incineration ash and sewage sludge. When they measure more than 8,000 Bq/Kg from the waste, Japanese government has to process it. At the moment of 8/3/2012, it’s up to 42,575 tones in 9 prefectures.
Local governments of Miyagi, Tochigi, Ibaraki and Chiba are going to build final disposal sites in government-owned lands within their prefectures because of rapidly increasing amount.
They are to choose candidate places by the end of September. Miyagi, Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectural governments have already started holding briefings with staff from city and town local governments.

It’s been only one and a half year since 311. It is unimaginable how much of final disposal sites will be needed until Fukushima is settled down.
Japan's final disposal sites - everywhere ....
