A U.S. Congressional report reveals that the America military has stockpiled in Israel $800 million worth of Israeli weapons for emergencies, and the amount may grow by 50 percent.
The report from the U.S. Congressional Research Service was obtained by Israel Defense.
The equipment in the emergency reserves includes Israeli-made missiles, armored vehicles, and artillery ammunition.
The report noted that Israel and the United States have agreed to increase “strategic cooperation” since the 1980s, with the United States storing military equipment in Israel.
The equipment was transferred to Israel for use by the United States in case of war, and Israel may use the weapons in case of emergency and with American approval. The U.S. military command in Europe, EUCOM, is responsible for the militaryequipment stored in Israel.
The report also reveals that the United States gave approval during the Second Lebanon War in 2006 for the IDF to use some of the weapons.
The equipment originally stored in Israel was worth approximately $100 million, but it grew to $800 million two years ago. An amendment to a Congressional law allows the value of the emergency cache to be increased to $1.12 billion.

The War Reserves Stock Allies-Israel (WRSA-I) program is run by the United States European Command (EUCOM) and includes missiles, armored vehicles and artillery ammunition.
The equipment was transferred to Israel "for use by the United States and, with U.S. permission, for use by Israel in emergency situations."
The U.S. gave such approval to the Israel Defense Force during the Second Lebanon War in 2006, according to the report.
Israel has promoted "strategic cooperation" since the 1980s by inviting the placement of U.S. arms and equipment at Israeli bases for use in wartime.
Initially the cache was worth about $100 million but it grew to $800 million by 2010.
A 2010 Congressional amendment extended the President's authority to transfer to Israel surplus defense items that are stockpiled in Israel.
The amendment will increase the value of the stockpile to $1.12 billion.
