Syria: Homs filmed in flames following fresh attack

Amateur video emerging from Syria is purported to show the city of Homs burning after a reported barrage of shelling from Syrian government forces that has left hundreds dead, according to witnesses.

Syrian forces were reported to have unleashed a barrage of mortars and artillery on the battered city of Homs, with more than 260 people killed according to opposition activists.
Amateur video said to have been filmed in Homs and posted online on Saturday showed a fire ravage a house in the district, with gunfire heard ringing out around the city.
Two opposition groups, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordination Committees, said the death toll in Homs was more than 200 people and included women and children in mortar shelling that began late on Friday.
More than half of the killings – about 140 – were reported in Khaldiyeh district.
The Syrian government denied involvement in the violence, blaming "armed gunmen".
